Rear Admiral Miller served in the United States Navy for 37 years, specializing in logistics. He served with distinction during the Pueblo Incident in Korea, in Vietnam, and during the first Gulf War. His career culminated in a posting as the Chief of the Naval Supply Corps. Some of his many commendations included the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit with gold star (for third award) and the Distinguished Service Medal. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Manassas; the Gainesville/Haymarket Rotary Club; and the Military Officers Association. He also served for many years as the Director of Logistics for the Children's Wellness Festival; a joint venture between many area Rotary Clubs.
