Grace "Carmen" Reeves Laughman, our devoted mother went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, peacefully at home on Sunday, February 17, 2013 under Hospice care. A memorial service was held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Marshall Street. There was a private burial at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Doyline, LA. Carmen was born in Doyline, Louisiana to Grace Hilman and Marion Alma Reeves and graduated from Doyline High School in 1939. She married Bob Brunson and moved to Florida, where she raised three daughters. Carmen graduated with honors, from University of South Florida-the First Charter Class. Upon returning to Louisiana, she obtained her Master's Degree from University of Texas at Dallas -flying each week into Dallas for classes. She continued her education by working toward her Doctorate Degree. Carmen taught 11th grade English, first in Florida and here at Woodlawn High School. She enjoyed teaching and treated all her students with respect but made them learn.

Carmen married David Laughman, Ret. Lt. Col. USAF in December 1967. She loved her family and enjoyed times with her sisters and brothers, who had nick names for her: her sister Toy called her "Chicken" and her baby brother, Bubba called her "Miranda" and her brother, Russell and her mother, called her "Buddy". No one could ever explain where these nicknames came from, but that was just our mother!

Preceding her in death are many loved ones: her husband's, David Laughman and Bob Brunson; parents, Grace Hilman and Marion Reeves, Brothers, Russell Reeves, Aswell Reeves and Charlie "Sonny" Reeves; brother-in-laws, Johnny Brewer; Raymond Harper and grandson, Kenny Anderson.

Carmen is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law; and step-daughter and husband; six grandchildren; three Sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

We will miss our mother, we will miss her laughter, her touch, her unconditional love and her beautiful blue eyes, but we all know without a doubt, that we will see her again in Heaven, where she was met by Jesus who smiled and said, "Well done Thy good and faithful servant'.

The family would like to thank Dr. Borne and his many years of compassionate care. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials may be made to Broadmoor Baptist Church 4110 Youree Dr. Shreveport, LA. 71105 or Willis Knighton Hospice Unit 616 East Flournoy Lucas Rd Shreveport, LA. 71115.
