Son of Ripley H. Hunter, Sr., M.D. and Frances Laughlin Hunter. Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He served from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1958, which included a tour of duty in Germany. He attended Sam Houston State University where he received his BBA in 1961. He was in the educational supply business and enjoyed working in sales until his retirement in 2001. He was known for his infectious sense of humor and his love of telling humorous stories. He was widely respected and loved by those who knew him. He will be deeply missed. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, Thomas Walker Hunter and younger brother, James David Hunter, M.D. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sally Glenn Hunter; daughter, Karen Hunter Kidwell and husband Gregory Kidwell and their sons John and Benjamin; sons, Richard Hunter, Jr., and David Hunter and wife Mandy Tinerella Hunter and their sons Cameron and Ian; brother, Ripley Harold Hunter, Jr., M.D. and sister-in-law Carolyn Hunter.
Richard Laughlin Hunter, Sr., beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on March 17, 2005, in the company of his family. He was born on August 13, 1934, in Palestine, Texas to Dr. Ripley H. Hunter, Sr. and Frances Laughlin Hunter.

Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1958, which included a tour of duty in Germany. He attended Sam Houston State University, where he received a BBA in 1961. He was in the educational supply business and enjoyed working in sales until his retirement in 2001. He was known for his infectious sense of humor and his love of telling funny stories. He was widely respected and loved by those that knew him. He will be deeply missed.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Thomas Walker Hunter, Sr., and younger brother Dr. James David Hunter.

Funeral Services will be conducted by family member David Robertson of McKinney, Texas at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 21, 2005, in the chapel of Earthman Bellaire Chapel, 6700 Ferris, Bellaire, Texas.
