Musician. He was a British rock musician, who was the original drummer for the influential heavy metal band, Iron Maiden, performing from 1979 to 1982. He played on the band's first three albums: "Iron Maiden" in 1980, "Killers" in 1981 and "The Number of the Beast" in 1982. He was a co-writer of the songs, "Gangland" and "Total Eclipse". He left the band in December of1982 due to personal problems and was replaced by drummer Nicko McBrain. Prior to joining Iron Maiden, he was with the band Samson, which also included Bruce Dickinson, who later became the lead singer of Iron Maiden. During the years following his departure from Iron Maiden, he stayed in the music business, playing with several other bands. One of those bands he played in was Trust, which included Nicko McBrain. In 1985, he was a member of the short-lived supergroup Gogmagog, which also consisted of original Iron Maiden lead vocalist Paul Di'Anno, among others. In 2001, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). He died at home in his sleep at the age of 56.
