Spc. Proctor, U.S. Army passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Bethesda, MD as a result of injuries sustained in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.
He was born April 13, 1986 in Catawba County, the son of David A. Proctor and Renee D. Jarvis. He attended Welcome Church of God in Lexington, was a graduate of Fred T. Foard High School, attended Lenior-Rhyne University and was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He was a Grenadier with the 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment (Cottonbalers), 1st Armor Brigade Team, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, GA. Tyler was an intelligent, quiet person who was an avid gamer and reader. As a young person he played baseball for the Mt. View Recreational Association. He was compassionate and thought of others before himself. Tyler was devoted to his family and enjoyed being with them as much as possible. He was an organ donor and because of this he brought life to three others. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Everett A. Proctor.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred "Millie" Proctor; his parents, David A. Proctor of Hickory and Renee Jarvis and husband, John of Montrose, CO; two children, Ayla and Caitlin Kiser both of Lexington; a sister Kristina Proctor of Mocksville; his paternal grandmother, Rachel Proctor of Hickory; his maternal grandparents, Rose and Morris DePauw of Granite Falls and a granddaughter, Chloe Logan.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Friday, March 22nd at Catawba Funerals and Cremations by Pastor Tom McDonald. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 21st from 6 to 9 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 1120 G St. NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20005.
