BOWN, Frances (nee Anderson)

Mrs. Clark Bown, aged 68, passed away at her home in the town of Beaver Brook last Friday, Nov. 18, following a lingering illness.

Frances Anderson was born Dec. 20, 1880, at Vermillion, S. D., leaving that place with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Anderson, at the age of three, the family settling at Platte, S.d., where deceased grew to young womanhood.

She was married to George Ester on September 22, 1895, they settling on a farm near Iona, S. D., where they resided thirteen years, then moved to Vermillion, S. D.

Ten years later, in the spring of 1918, the family moved to Wisconsin and settled on a farm in Beaver Brook. Following the death of her husband on October 13, 1935, she continued to reside in the community and on March 4, 1936, was married to Clark Bown. She lived here for thirty-one years.

Preceding her in death were her first husband and one son, Raymond, and one daughter, Rosetta.

Surviving are the husband, Clark Bown, one son, Ben Ester of Vermillion, S. D., and four daughters, Mrs. Clive Handcock of Vermillion, S. D., Mrs. Ed Snell of Spooner, Mrs. Clifford Ficken, Vermillion, S. D., and Mrs. Melvin Hanson, Missoula, Mont.

Twenty-one grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one step-son, Harry Bown of Spooner, and two step-daughters, Mrs. Viola Sylvester of Spooner and Mrs. Fern Leef of Siren, as well as two brothers and five sisters also survive.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 21, at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist church, Rev. M. R. Philpott officiating, and interment was made in the Shell Lake cemetery.
