Carl E. "TY" "Chickee" Chick died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice in Scarborough after a period of declining health.

He was born In North Berwick on March 12, 1935, to Forrest and Emelie (Chase) Chick. Carl was a Wells High School graduate where one of his proudest achievements was setting the State track records in the High Jump and Hurdles. They would remain until his son; Tim came along and was able to break his father's records in the hurdles.

Carl was a Korean War Veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Air Force. For many years he drove truck for various paving companies, including Tilcon, Pike Industries and currently for Libby-Scott Paving.

He loved working with wood; making furniture and finishing it with an incredible shine then passing it down to his children filled him with a humbled pride of his job well done.

Ty will always be remembered as a hard working man who was very proud of his children and their accomplishments; and of course, that infectious laugh while telling tales of deer hunting or fishing for the big one that couldn't escape he and his buddies.
.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Forrest Mayland Chick and Emelie Sarah (Chase) Chick, his sisters; Janice Chick Leslie, Francis Chick Fenderson, his brother, John Chick and his granddaughter, Kayla Daudelin. He will be sorely missed by 5 sons, Timothy, Scott and Casey Chick, all of Wells, Jerry Chick of North Berwick, and Troy Chick of Ogunquit; his daughter Tammy Hoyt Wysocki of Massachusetts, step-son Eric Belisle of Texas and step-daughter, Wendi Daudelin of North Berwick, as well as 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 3 from 12-2PM at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market Street, North Berwick, immediately followed by a funeral at 2PM. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery in North Berwick. Family flowers only. Those who wish may contribute to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice, 11 Hunnewell Road, Scarborough, ME 04074. Arrangements are in the Care of the Johnson Funeral Home.
