Casualty of the Great War,The Hon. Eric Fox Pitt Lubbock was a son of John,the 1st Baron Avebury,the late Lord Avebury and his wife,Lady Alice Avebury, of Kingsgate Castle,Kent. He was a Captain in the 45th Sqdn.Royal Flying Corps. He held the Military Cross and was 23 when killed in aerial combat.

His brother also fell; he was Lieutenant,The Hon. Harold Fox Pitt Lubbock,father of the 3rd Baron Avebury,
who served in the2nd Bn. Grenadier Guards. He was 29 and died on 4th April 1918, leaving a widow,Dorothy C. Lubbock, of High Elms, Farnborough, Kent. He had also served in Gallipoli and Palestine as a Captain in the West Kent Yeomanry.
He rests in BOISLEUX-AU-MONT COMMUNAL CEMETERY-Grave: 3.
