Tressie was the daughter of Stuart Meade and Lillie (Farmer) Meade.
She married William Epperson Carty and they had four sons, John Edward, William Jr., Barry and David Carty.

BRISTOL, VA - Evelyn Meade Carty, 81, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, in the Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tennessee, following an extended illness.
She was born in Lebanon, VA, on June 9, 1929, a daughter of the late Stuart Meade and Lillie Farmer Meade. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Epperson Carty; and son, John Edward Carty. She had worked for Burroughs Shoes and was a loving and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an active member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her three sons, William Carty, Jr. and wife, Charlotte of Siler City, N.C., Barry Carty and wife, Jennifer, of Yulee, Fla., David Carty and wife, Amy, of Bristol, Virginia; four grandchildren, Dee Dee Brown and husband, Cookie, of Siler City, Jill and husband, Chance Cunnup, of Siler City, and Ashlie Stone and Caleb Stone of Bristol, Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Kara Brown of Siler City, Brady Cunnup of Siler City, and Abigail Cunnup of Siler City; brother, Marshall Meade; three sisters, Virginia Almany, Maida Hawkins, and Shirley Chafin; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a special thank you to all the nurses and rehabilitation personal at NHC for all the love and care shown to Evelyn during her illness. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at Heritage Chapel of Memories, in Mountain View Cemetery with the Rev. Emmett Wilson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Beech Grove United Methodist Church, 7149 Gate City Highway, Bristol, VA 24202.
