Mrs. Wilhelmina Mouw, age 94, formerly of Orange City, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2002, at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, Minnesota.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 16, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Steven Vander Molen officiated.
A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
Wilhelmina, who was known as Wilmine, was born November 25, 1907, at Orange City, the daughter of Albert and Helen (Yepma) Mouw. She was raised at Orange City. When she was nine years old, both her parents died. She and her brothers and sisters were then adopted or lived in foster homes.
On March 29, 1927, she married Harry Jacob Mouw at Orange City. They made their home in Orange City, where Wilmine was a homemaker. She also worked at Westra Sales, Andringa Jewelry, and the Northwestern College student center snack bar, all in Orange City.
In recent years, they were residents of the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, Minnesota. Mr. Mouw passed away August 28, 1999, in Starbuck. Wilmine was a member of the First Reformed Church in Orange City, where she participated in the womens activities, the Sunday school, and mission projects. Mr. and Mrs. Mouw spent many summers in Alexandria, Minnesota, working and fishing at their son's resort.
Survivors include her three sons and their wives, Harlan and Clara Mouw, of Alexandria; Marv and Delores Mouw, of Sibley; and Jim and Audrey Mouw, of Buffalo, Wyoming; eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Peter Mouw, of Sioux City; a sister-inlaw, Leona Mouw, of Alton; and nephews and nieces.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester Dykstra and Donald Maasdam; and two sisters, Ann Goslinga and Alma Bruins. Memorials are being directed to World Vision.
