Carolyn Gail Alexander, 68, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born January 24, 1945 in Mt. Moriah, Mo., daughter of Madge and Alva Fitzpatrick.
She married John Alexander on June 21, 1997, and they shared 15 years of marriage together.
She graduated from Mt. Moriah High School.
She retired from Hillyard Chemicals after 25 years of service. She also worked at Quaker Oats, Lifeline Foods and Jackson Hewitt Tax Services.
She enjoyed the Peace Corps Quilt Guild of St. Joseph.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of St. Joseph.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Adams; her parents; three brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her husband, John Alexander of the home; daughter, Tanya (Alan) Stumpff of Lee's Summit, Mo.; son, Erick (Carrie) Adams of St. Joseph; two step-sons, Kevin (Linda) Alexander of Fillmore, Mo., and Kirby Alexander of Elroy, Kan.; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Arwood (Lucille) Fitzpatrick of Leavenworth, Kan., Ken (Lois) Fitzpatrick of Gladstone, Mo., and Bill (Arleta) Fitzpatrick of Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters, Shirley Fitzpatrick of Overland Park, Kan., and Wanda (Dale) Whisler of Mt. Moriah.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Rupp Funeral Home, with Pastor David Moore officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home.
She will be cremated under the direction of the Rupp Funeral Home.
The inurnment will be at the Ashland Cemetery Monday, following the memorial service.
