William A. Shortle, 73, passed away in Vero Beach, FL, on Saturday, March 1 after a brief illness. He was born June 16, 1929 in Cleveland and retired to Vero Beach in 1978 from Mayfield Village. Mr. Shortle was Chief of Police of the Mayfield Village Police Department for 29 years, prior to retirement. He was a graduate of the FBI national academy, a lifetime member of the Police Chiefs Assn., and a mason. Surviving are his sons, Terry Allen Shortle and Ricky Lee Shortle; daughters, Cindi A. Miller, and Johanna Lynn Coleburg (all of Vero Beach) and eight grandchildren.
