Obituary
Thursday morning at six thirty, the life of one of our most highly esteemed young men passed from the realm of time into Eternity. Walter Cameron was taken suddenly ill with pneumonia, at the home of Mrs. Hewitt, Saturday night April 30. His condition from the beginning seemed to be very threatening, his people at Farnam being notified at once, of his illness. The young man's father and mother arrived the day following, and they in connection with the physician and nurses employed did every thing possible to restore health, but the battle was against every effort made by skill and loving hands. Walter Dale Cameron was born at Cambridge, Nebraska, April 2, 1904, and died at Phillips, Nebr., May 12th, 1921, aged 17 years, 1 month and 10 days. In his early childhood he moved to Farnam, Nebr., with his parents. He attended the city schools at Farnam until his fifteenth year when he went to Hastings and began a course in the business college in that city, finishing his work a year later. Immediately following completion of the work at Hastings, he accepted a valued position at the bank of Phillips where he remained a trusted and valued employee until his death.
The funeral services at Phillips were conducted from the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Hewitt, Friday morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. M. C. Smith, pastor of the M. E. church of Phillips being in charge. The services were of a brief order, but attended by a large number of friends and admirers of the young man. At their conclusion the remains were taken to Grand Island and conveyed by rail to Gothenberg and from that point overland to the home at Farnam. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer C. Huxtable and Miss Norma Morton accompanied the parents and one brother of the deceased who had been at his bedside almost continually. The funeral services proper, were conducted on Saturday afternoon at 3:30, being conducted from the parental home. Two pastors of Farnam officiated. Interment was made in Farnam.
