He, in company of Frank Devine were moving a corn sheller and engine to another locality. Ray was driving the lead team which was pulling the power, while Devine drove the team attached to the sheller; as they descended a steep incline, a part of the harness on Devine's team gave way and the horses began to run in an effort to get away from the sheller which was running upon them.
Before Ray could be given warning, the sheller struck the engine truck upon which he was riding, throwing him to the ground and before he had time to gain his feet, the hind wheel of the engine truck passed over his head; crushing it to such an extent that death followed instantly.
Ray was an industrious young man about 25 years of age and has a host of friends who with his bereaved parents will greatly miss him.
A short service will be held tomorrow (Friday, the 15th) afternoon at the home and at the Congregational Church at 2:00 pm, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Harry H., Pollard with interment in the Farnam Cemetery."
