The Gothenburg Times, Gothenburg NEB, 28Aug1952 - Jennie Maude Reeves was born March 14, 1881, to Mary Elizabeth and John Taylor, in Richardson County, Nebraska, and passed away in Omaha, August 13, 1952, at the age of 71 years.
When she was a young child, she moved with her parents, three brothers and a younger sister, to Curtis, Nebraska.
When she was eleven years old, her mother passed away, leaving her to help care for the younger brother and sister. She went to the home of Rev and Mrs C W Preston, the Congregational minister and his wife in Curtis, after the death of her seven-year-old sister. There she grew to womanhood, attending Curtis schools, then going to Franklin Academy and Doane College.
She then taught school for several years.
On June 11, 1905, she was united in marriage to Dr Alfred E Reeves of Farnam. Here they lived until Dec 1, 1943, when they moved to North Platte.
Mrs Reeves was a very devout Christian and loved to study the Bible, She was a member of the First Methodist church of North Platte.
She is survived by her husband; her daughter, Lorraine Oman of Gothenburg; her son, Richard, of New Orleans, La.; one brother: Harry Taylor of Cowles, Neb.; five grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends.
The memorial service was held in the Methodist church at Farnam on Saturday, Aug 16, 1952, at 2:30 pm with Dr Everett Jackman officiating. The soloist from the First Methodist church of North Platte sang "My Jesus, I Love Thee" and "Abide With Me." Burr Parker, E B Lewis, Ray Blackwood, Raymond Smith, Arch Jorgenson and S C Wilcox were the pallbearers. Interment was in the Farnam cemetery.
