Jazz Musician. He was an orchestra leader who was called "The King of Jazz" in his time. One of the first to combine jazz and orchestral stylings, he performed on his own radio program from 1932 to 1950, and his success allowed him to introduce and employ many renowned jazz musicians and singers such as The Dorsey Brothers, Jack Teagarden and Bing Crosby.
