CARLISLE - Charles F. George, 70, of 443 W. North St. died Wednesday in Harrisburg Hospital.

He was a retired employee of UGI Corp., where he had worked for 40 years, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 421, VFW Post 6070, and the World War II Veterans Lodge, all of Newville; the National Association of the 10th Mountain Division; Elks Lodge 578 and the Eagles; Good Will-Cumberland Fire Company; the American Association of Retired Persons; and First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Wolfe Taylor George; a son, Robert S. of Carlisle; three daughters, Anna Marie Hess of Hampton, N.J., Romaine Alspaugh of Carlisle, and Joyce E. Zinn of Newville; a stepdaughter, Betty T. Weber of Carlisle; six brothers, Galen, Glenn, Roy, Chester, and Dale, all of Carlisle, and Cloyd of Okinawa; a sister, Patsy Myers of Carlisle; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1: 30 p.m. Saturday in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Mason officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Twp., with military honors.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the scholarship fund of American Legion Post 421, Newville 17241.
