NESS CITY - Mollie Hemel, 97, died April 27 at Ness County Long Term Care in Ness City.

She was born Sept. 16, 1902, at Milberger, the
daughter of Jacob and Anna Hemel Funk.

She married Phillip Hemel July 1, 1935, at Bazine. He died July 9, 1976.

She was a homemaker and resident of Ness City
since 1971.

Her family came from Russia in 1902.

Mrs. Hemel was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ness City.
Survivors include one son, Ronald Hemel of Ness City; three daughters,
Arlene Smith of Hoxie, Carol Schmitter of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Dorothy
Filson of Wichita; one brother, Bennie Funk of Littleton, Colo.; one
sister, Alma Betz of Great Bend; three grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, including Herman Funk of Scott City; and three sisters.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bazine Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Memorials are suggested to the
American Cancer Society and to the church, in care of Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City.
