Florence M. (Ledwith) Collins, 89, died peacefully, Monday, May 13,2013 at the Wesley Health Care Center, Saratoga Springs, NY, with her loving family by her side. She was born in (Burnt Hill) Schuyler Falls, NY on August 22, 1923 the daughter of John J. and Agnes (Morrow) Ledwith. Florence was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1619 in West Plattsburgh, NY and a communicant of Church of the Assumption in Redford. She loved cooking, entertaining, playing cards, deer hunting with Dutch her husband, and spending time with her grandchildren. Florence had formerly worked at CVPH, as a nurses aide and LaBarre's Meat Market in Plattsburgh, NY. Survivors include one son, Gordon B. Collins of Clayburg, NY; two sisters, Theresa (Ledwith) Gonyea of Lake Placid, NY and Agatha "Aggie" (Ledwith) Kingston of Lake Placid, NY; one brother-in-law, Norman "Junior" Collins and his wife, Viola of Plattsburgh, NY; five grandchildren, Christopher Payant and his wife, Nicole of Saratoga Springs, NY, Jason Payant of Ballston Spa, NY; Suzanne Flemming and her husband, Patrick of Aurora, Ohio; Eric Sarri of Saratoga Springs, NY and Vanessa Sarri of Albany, NY; seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin "Dutch" Collins; three of her beloved children, Gary Collins, Judy (Collins) Sarri and Donna (Collins) Payant; four brothers, James "Art" Ledwith, Jerry Ledwith, John Ledwith and Roswell Ledwith; and one sister, Marion (Ledwith) Shipman. Calling hours will be held Monday May 20, 2013 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with burial immediately following at Saranac Independence Cemetery. There will be a gathering in remembrance of Florence at the American Legion in West Plattsburgh, NY. Memorial donations may be made to St Jude children's research hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
