Claude McLane Simril was the second son of Robert McLane Simril and Ima Belle Carter. He was known as "Bub". He married Helen Ratcliffe. They had three children:

1. Claudia Jeanette Simril who married 1st Melvin Cloer and 2nd Loy Long. She had one daughter Cyndi Cloer who married Tom Whisnant and they had two children: Raven Whisnant and Rex Whisnant.

2. Robert Thomas Simril I who married Janet Ethel Eldredge. Janet is the daughter of Everett Chester Eldredge and Doris Eugenie White. They had three children: 1.) Robert Thomas "Tommy" Simril II who married Joy Hodges and they had two children Robert Thomas "Trey" Simril III and Adair Simril. 2.) Denise Simril 3.) Debbie Simril.

3. Dolores Simril who married 1st Roger Cathey and had two children: Roger "Chip" Cathey Jr. and Brian McLane Cathey.
