Miss. Grace Hodsdon Boutelle, 88, died shortly before midnight Saturday at a Bangor nursing home following a long illness. She was born at Augusta, March 27, 1869, daughter of the late Capt. Charles A. and Lizzie Hodsdon Boutelle. In company with her two sisters, the late Mrs. Elizabeth B. Palmer and the late Mrs. Anne Savage, she spent a number of years in Washington, D.C., while her father served as Congressman from the third Congressional District. As the oldest of the three daughters, she served as hostess for her father as many Washington social functions after the death of her mother, Miss. Boutelle made her home for many years in Minneapolis, Minn., where she was a teacher of both voice and piano. She also was a talented writer, many of her articles being published in national publications. In 1947, she returned to Bangor and had made her home here since that time. She was a member of the First Church of Christian Scientist in Bangor. Surviving are two nephews, Boutelle Savage and Addison B. Palmer both of Bangor; and four nieces, Mrs. James E. Mitchell and Mrs. Samuel H. Calderwood, both of Bangor, Suzanne Savage of Searsmont and Patricia Savage of Winchester, N.H. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Greenlawn Memorial Funeral Home, 300 State Street. Interment will be in the family lot at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
