Lady Cromwell, Marchioness of Winchester

Six of nine children, third of four daughters of Sir John Seymour of Wolf Hall in Savernake and Margaret Wentworth, granddaughter of John Seymour and Elizabeth Darrell, Sir Henry Wentworth and Anne Say. Sister to Queen Jane Seymour. She was born at Wulfhall in Savemake.

Elizabeth first married Sir Anthony Ughtred in January 1531 who died in 1534, and they had no issue. Wikpedia reports there were two children.

Secondly, she was the wife of Baron or Lord Gregory Cromwell, the son of King Henry's chief minister, Thomas Cromwell, the Earl of Essex. They had five children, and Gregory died in 1551.

Thirdly, she was the second wife of Sir John Paulet, Baron Saint John, son of Sir William Paulet and Elizabeth Capel. They were married about 01 April 1554 and had no issue.

Elizabeth and her sister, Jane, served as Maids of Honour to King Henry VIII's second wife, Anne Boleyn, their second cousin, in 1533, when Jane started to receive the attentions of the King. After Jane and Henry were married in 1536 (eleven days after Anne's execution), Elizabeth became Jane's Lady-in-Waiting.

Jane died in childbirth in 1537, and Elizabeth's husband, Gregory Cromwell, was included in the welcoming committee for Anne of Cleves, Henry's next wife, as she arrived in England from Germany, Elizabeth was then appointed to her household. After Anne's marriage to Henry was annulled, Elizabeth remained in the household for Henry's fifth wife, Catherine Howard.

Thomas Cromwell was executed for treason in 1540, Elizabeth's family's position, fortunes and influence fell. Her brother, Thomas secretly wed Catherine Parr, who died a few days after giving birth to their daughter and Catherine's only child, Mary Seymour. Her two brothers, Thomas and Edward, were executed for treason by Edward VI.

Elizabeth died at Launde, Leicester, and was buried by 09 June 1563 at Basing. Sir John would remarry to Winifred Brydges before he died in 1576, also buried at Basing.
