Author. She wrote the work "The Fire That Will Not Die." As an eighth grader, she was a victim of the Our Lady of the Angels fire which took place December 1, 1958 in Chicago. She jumped from a second story window when her body caught fire. As a result of her burns, she spent four and one half months recovering in St. Anne's Hospital. She later worked to establish a rehabilitation program known as the Phoenix Program which helps rehabilitate burn victims and their families.
