WING, ELWOOD CLARENCE
US MERCHANT MARINE
WORLD WAR II

----

Elwood "Bug" Clarence Wing, died July 25 at the Central Maine Medical Center, after a short illness with his family by his side.

He was born Elwood Clarence Wing in Albany on June 25, 1927, a son of Clarence and Myrtle Wing. He was educated in the Woodstock schools and very proudly served his country during World War II by enlisting into the Merchant Marines. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Andrews, in 1948 and has missed her greatly since her passing in 2009. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather.

Bug worked for a time at Stowells Mill in Bryant Pond but for most of his working career was in the carpentry field, much like his Dad. He was an accomplished carpenter/handyman and could pretty much fix anything. Many homes in and around Bryant Pond were built or renovated by him and his crew after venturing out on his own.

He was very flattered to have been referred to as the "Town Carpenter" in a story in Time magazine that was written about the last crank phone system.

He could always be found in his wood shop tinkering or building something, and always had his special sense of humor right up to his final days.

He is survived by a daughter Brenda Signoretti and her husband Salvatore of Watertown, MA.; a son Gary and his wife, Jeannine, of Bryant Pond; five grandchildren, Tami Maye and her husband Brendon of Woburn MA., Tina Signoretti of Milford MA., Tori Hicinbothem and her husband John of Bethel, Troy Wing and his wife Ramphuay of Pittsburgh PA. and Todd Wing and his wife Elizabeth of Portland. eleven great-grandchildren, Travis, Trinity, Ronan, Maren, Brendan, Billy, Nikita, Shayanne, Kaitlynn, Kenny and Cameron; and a sister Eleanor of Bryant Pond.

His parents, his wife, Dorothy, a brother Weldon, a sister Methyl and a grandson Anthony Signoretti predeceased him.
