His song "Indian Love Call" was used by film director Tim Burton for the grotesque fantasy film "Mars Attacks!" (1996). In the film the song plays a key role as the only weapon able to defeat the alien invaders. In a career that spanned nearly sixty years, he sold over one hundred million records worldwide. He died of heart failure at the age of ninety.
