I would never have dreamed I would be doing a bio page for my dear sister who introduced me to Find A Grave about 5 years ago. This is a task I never wanted to do but I know in my heart she deserves the very best. I hope I do you justice, Jeanne because you deserve the very best.

Dora Imogene (Jeanne as we all knew her) Hughart Burdette was born on Sept. 20, 1950 in Charleston, West Virginia to Glenn Joseph Hughart and Delores Ann Rose Hughart. She was the 4th child of 4 born to her parents. Jeanne lived most all of her life on what was called Tuppers Creek Road (later changed to Walker Drive) in her beloved West Virginia. She loved her home state and proudly proclaimed it was the only place on earth to live. She ventured outside of West Virginia only a couple of times and was always in such a hurry to return to her home which she loved dearly. She moved with her husband Steve to Florida once for about 2 months and was so homesick that when she returned vowed never to leave West Virginia again. When she ventured out to Indiana once to visit her sister Linda she could not wait to get home. Jeanne was well known for her practical jokes as we were growing up and later she mellowed out and was constantly doing little things for others. She was an avid poem writer and had penned many poems for family and friends but when asked she always gave God the credit for giving her the words to pen. She was a born again Christian and loved the Lord Jesus Christ; she enjoyed talking about Him and sharing her faith with anyone who would listen. She became interested in genealogy after the death of our parents in 2004 & 2006 and found many relatives we never knew we had. Our mother had been adopted as an infant and Jeanne found her birth relatives.

She is survived by her husband Steve Burdette, her son Scott & wife Sara Varney Burdette of Sissonville; three grandchildren, Jared, Jacob and Jace Burdette all of Sissonville; a sister Linda Hughart Klein of Hart, Michigan; a sisters in law Vera Lou Taylor of Tuppers Creek; Connie Hughart of Kenna; Barbara Hughart of Tuppers Creek; many cousins, nieces & nephews who will all miss her desperately. These are all relatives of Jeanne's but she is also survived, remembered and loved by so many friends, both near and far. She met so many people through her genealogy work and was always willing to help in any and every way she possibly could. She was truly a gem, a jewel, a treasure to many who loved her dearly.
