Catherine (Jane) Meek-Pettay was born in Peoli, Ohio in 1870. She was the daughter of the late David and Jermina Meek. She resided in Newport, Ohio for the last fifty years of her long life. She was married to Columbus R. Pettay, who passed away in 1935. She had two sons, Emery (born in 1896) and Ira (my grandfather, born in 1903). She had two sisters, Emma (Meek) Roberts of Freeport, Ohio and Anna (Meek) Kelley of New Philadelphia, Ohio. She was a member of the Newport Methodist Church.
