Family gatherings were always a time to enjoy Mom's great cooking. Making everything from scratch was just a part of the love that she put into it. She was in the kitchen more than any other room in the house. She prepared food for families who worked for Daddy. She would even deliver the meals to their homes. Mom was a hard worker. She rose at 4:00 a.m. each day to assist with the family business.
Mom loved flowers. Her azaleas and dogwoods that she planted in the 1970's are still beautiful when they bloom each year. She put love into them too.

Mom loved her family. Children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great grandchildren brought her many blessings. Each grandchild was called "the sweetest one". She also considered them all her "honey bunches".
Most importantly, Mom's tremendous faith in Jesus Christ helped her to share her gifts of the Holy Spirit. Mom led a disciplined life that honored the Lord. Writing letters to family, friends, and others who the Lord laid on her heart was another way she shared the love of Jesus. She taught others and us how to pray and shared scriptures with all who crossed her path. She always had a word of encouragement to share. Teaching Sunday school was just another way she shared her love of the Lord and the Bible.

"You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates. We cannot see her, but she is still with us. A Mother like ours is more than a memory. She is a living presence."
