Lizzie (Betts) Thomas West Davidson died November 21, 1988 in Scott County Hospital, Oneida, Tennessee. The cause of death was cancer.

Betts was born October 20, 1903, in Oneida, Tennessee, the daughter of John Henry and Minda Thomas. She married Silas West and to the union of that marriage, they had four children: John Henry, DeWitt, James Silas, and Pearlie West. Silas West preceded her in death, and she married Tommy Davidson. Together they had five children: Wayde, Jolly, Betty Lou, Tommy, Jr. Imogene Davidson.

Betts lived most of her life in Oneida, Tennessee and a couple of years in Glendale, Oregon.

Her mother Minda Thomas died early in life and her father remarried. Betts enjoyed visiting with her father, John Henry and Step mother Minnie Thomas. She planted many gardens, canned, and cooked meals.

She is survived by sons: Wayde and Tommy Jr Davidson, of Oneida, Tennessee, James (Buster) S. West of Drexel, Ohio; daughters: Betty Lou Greene of Sutherlin, Oregon, Imogene Stanley of Statyon, Oregon, Pearly Lutner of Oneida, Tennessee; Sister, Rilda Burke of Oneida, Tennesse; Brother, James Thomas of Oneida, Tennessee, Half-brothers: Gabriel Thomas of Lenior City, Tennessee, Aaron Thomas of Coos Bay, Oregon, and Cleophia Thomas of Myrtle Creek, Oregon; numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: parents, John Henry and Menda Thomas; husbands, Silas West and Tommy Davidson; Sons, John Henry West, DeWitt West, Jolly Davidson; Sisters, Glithy Cecil, Cordelia Cecil; Brothers, Sylvester, Willie, Charlie, Issac, and Calvin Thomas; half-brother, Joseph Thomas.

Lizzie Thomas West Davidson, 85, of the High Point community, passed away Monday evening, November 21, 1988, at the Scott County Hospital following a lingering illness. Mrs. Davidson was the daughter of the late John Henry Thomas and the late Mindy Ann Foster Thomas and was also preceded in death by her first husband, Silas West; her second husband, Tommy Owens Davidson; three sons: John Henry West, Sidney Dewitt West, and Jolly Edward Davidson; two sisters: Cordelia Cecil and Gleathy Cecil; and five brothers: Sylvester Thomas, Isaac Thomas, Calvin Thomas, and infants Charlie and Willie Thomas. She was a member of the High Point Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters: Pearlie West Boles of the High Point community, Betty Lou Davidson Green of Eugene, Ore.; three sons: Joseph Wade Davidson of the High Point community, Tommy Davidson, Jr. of the High Point community, and James Silas West of Dayton, O.; one sister, Rilda Burke of Oneida; one brother, James Thomas of Oneida; three half-brothers: Gabriel Thomas of Lenoir City, Amon Thomas of Goose Bay, Ore., and Cleo Thomas of Tri City, Ore.; thirty-two grandchildren, including a special granddaughter that she helped raise, Elizabeth Craig of High Point; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel at 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, with Rev. Larry Sexton officiating. The Hutson Family sang. Burial was in the Hazel Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers were: James R. Craig, Richard M. Chitwood, Jeremy Chitwood, Conley Koger, Paul Sexton, and Roger Sauls.
