One of the 14 football players for Purdue University killed in a train wreck in Indianapolis, Indiana en route to the game between Purdue and Indiana University. He was a native of Whitney, Tex., being the son of George O. and Judie Dysart Powell of Corpus Christi. He had lived in CC since 1891, and was a graduate of CC High school, May 1900, attended the State University one year, then entered Purdue University in 1902, where he was studying to be an electrical engineer.
