MRS. ELIZA M. BLAKE -

Highly Esteemed Woman Passes Away After Long Illness --

Mrs. Ella McCord Blake, a most estimable and highly esteemed woman, passed away on Wednesday morning at the home of her son, 117 Sixteenth Avenue, North. Mrs. Blake had been ill for several months, but during the past few days she had been falling rapidly, and it had been realized that the end was a matter of but a short time.

Mrs. Blake resided in Nashville for a number of years, but during the past few years had made her home with her son, Luther Blake, of New York City. She was on a visit to her son, George Blake, in this city, at the time of her death, having spent part of each winter in Nashville since going to New York. Mrs. Blake was a woman of noble character, and was greatly beloved by a wide circle of relatives and friends. While an invalid for several years, she bore her suffering with Christian fortitude that was beautiful.

Mrs. Blake was the widow of Dr. G. Wash Blake, a prominent citizen of Fayetteville, who died a number of years ago, and she was the mother of Luther L. Blake, of New York; Percy and Sam Blake of Birmingham; Miss Mamie Blake and Mrs. E. E. Eslick of Pulaski; and stepmother of W. H. Blake, of Washington; George Black, Secretary of the State Funding Board, at whose home she died; John Blake, of Fayetteville; and Mrs. Thomas Rodes of Harriman. She was a sister of Gen. Laps D. McCord and Mrs. J. Holland Wright, of Nashville, and Mrs. Daniel Tucker of Pulaski.

The remains will be taken to Fayetteville, her former home, for interment, leaving on the train this morning at 9:30 o'clock.
