Ponce, who served as a corporal in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War, signed with Warner Bros. in 1958 to star as Kim, the wise-cracking cab driver in 'Hawaiian Eye', the first television show about Hawaii. Jack Warner renamed him "Poncie" and that show led to numerous television appearances including '77 Sunset Strip', 'The Gallant Men' and 'The Woody Woodbury Show'. He also appeared in several movies, most notably 'Speedway' (1968) with Elvis Presley. His other film credits include 'Portrait of a Mobster' (1961), 'The World's Greatest Lover' (1977) and 'G.I. Joe: The Movie' (1987). He recorded several albums including the soundtrack to 'Hawaiian Eye', 'Poncie Ponce Sings' and 'Ten Cent Perfume' and traveled the world singing and performing in nightclubs from Australia to Canada to Argentina to Japan.
