Radio and Television Personality. He is best remembered for his nationally-syndicated morning radio show, "Kidd Kraddick in the Morning," which was based in Irving, Texas, and aired throughout the US, syndicated by his company YEA Networks. Born David Peter Cradick in Napoleon, Ohio, he grew up in Dunedin, Florida, and got his first start in radio in Tampa, Florida and later worked at radio stations KYNO-FM, Fresno, California, and KHTZ, Los Angeles, California, where he also worked comedy clubs as an emcee. He received the nickname "Kidd" from a radio producer and used the name on-air from 1978 until his death. In 1984 he moved to Dallas, Texas, taking over the night shift on the newly formatted top-40 radio station KEGL (The Eagle) and soon established a following. In 1990 he was named to the Ten Outstanding Young Americans list by the United States Junior Chamber. In 1992 KGEL changed formats and he was released and was later hired to a morning position at KHKS "Kiss-FM" in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. Around this time, he started two radio oriented businesses, a monthly publication for morning personalities called "The Morning Mouth" and a show prep "sharing service" for air personalities called "BitBoard". In 1998 he won a Marconi Award for Major Market Radio Personality of the Year while he was with KHKS and the following year he won Air Personality of the Year at the Radio Music Awards. In 2001 he started syndicating the show and moved the production to an independent studio in Las Colinas, Texas. Additionally, he was also seen on the nationally-syndicated "Dish Nation" television show that aired on weeknights around the US. He died unexpectedly at the age of 53 as a result of apparent heart disease while attending an annual fundraiser for his charity Kidd's Kids at the Timberlake Country Club in Gretna, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. He was a member of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame. (bio by: William Bjornstad)
