BAXTER Funeral services for William Charlie Jernigan, 76, of Silver Point will be held Saturday, August 22, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Baxter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Smellage Cemetery.
Mr. Jernigan died Thursday, August 20, 1992, at his home.
A native of Putnam County born August 27, 1915, he was the son of the late Henry (Grady) and Nola Edna (Lowe) Jernigan.
He was a retired nurse with the Veterans Administration who served with the Air Force during World War II. Mr. Jernigan was a member of New Home Baptist Church and the American Legion.
His family includes his wife, Betty Virginia Prichard Jernigan of Silver Point; three sons, Billy R., Robert H., and Rodger L. Jernigan, all of Silver Point; seven sisters, Ova Julian, Olive Jared, Pearl Harris and Jean Robinson, all of Baxter, Nell Walker of Cookeville, Doris Watson of Michigan and Judy Moore of Texas; three brothers, Glenis C. and Henry H. Jernigan, both of Baxter, and Norman Byrd Jernigan of Ohio; eight grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren.
