Died, at her home in Riverside Park, Great Bend, on Tuesday, at 4:30 a.m. April 3, 1888, of heart disease, Mrs. Elizabeth Fudge, widow of D. M. Fudge, aged 57 years and 5 months.

The deceased was a sister of N.R. Holmes, of this place, and just recently moved here from Seward, Kas. She has been working in her garden until late that evening, and was as well as usual when she retired. At four o'clock Tuesday morning her daughter, about 16 years of age, who was sleeping with her, was awakened by her mother's hard breathing, and spoke to her, but getting no answer she became frightened and ran for Mrs. Ward, a near neighbor. When they returned, a few minutes later, they found her dead. Her son, who lived with her, went to Seward yesterday to get their cow and some other things that they had left behind, so the daughter was the only one with her. She leaves two other sons, both married. The family have the sympathy of the community in their sudden bereavement. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church.
