Son of Dr. Nathan Knepfler and Leonore Morgenstern. First wife was Frances Morningstar, daughter of Ignatz Morningstar whose family came to USA from Hungary between 1848 and 1854.
*Children with Frances Morningstar: Ellen, Daniel Webster Knepfler and Emma G.
*He remarried 1 year after Emma's birth. With his second wife, Doris Davis, he had: Nathaniel, Fanny (Isadore Rose), Frederick, Lincoln, Lida, Amy, Thelka (Oscar Rice).
Nathaniel, Frederick, Lincoln, and Lida all end up in San Diego. Their death records are available but I am not able to find where they were buried.

Children that descend from Joseph and his first wife, Doris Davis, still have Morningstar blood since Joseph's mother was also a Morningstar.
