He was married to the former Agnes Muir who preceded him in death in 1939.Both Charles & his wife ,were former residents of DuBois, Clearfield County,PA. During that time,Charles worked as a Coal Miner at the Cascade Mine located in Sykesville,Jefferson county,PA.
Charles was a former glassworker with Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company and had most recently worked as a Restaurant Worker.
He was a widow residing in the Kittanning R.D. 5 area prior to becoming a patient at the Lawrence F. Flick State Hospital in Cresson,Pennsylvania.He had been suffering from Pulmonary Tuberculosis;he passed away there at 9 p.m. on Monday -13 April 1959 at the hospital where he had been a patient for 32 days.
He was born in England in 1881,aged 78 years[his obituary stated he was 81 years of age]. His World War I Draft Registration states a more accurate birth date,as this is a record he would have filled out or answered himself.
Other researchers believe his full name was Charles James Stott,but no records have been found to adequately prove this information as a fact.
He was survived by one daughter,
~ Mrs. Mary Ann Stouffer of Kittanning RD 5, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters:-
~ Mrs. Elizabeth Mitchell of Freeport,PA.;
~ Mrs. Martha Carlson;
~ Mrs. Annie Parker, both of Nanty Glo;
~ Mrs. Clara Butterworth of Wheeling, West Virginia.
Friends were received at the Rhodes Funeral Home in Kittanning on Wednesday, where services were conducted by the Rev. Ralph Newell of the Kittanning First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Interment was made in the Kittanning Cemetery on April 16th.
