Sgt. Anthony N. Kalladeen of Purchase, New York lived in Yonkers for 17 years before moving to Reading, Pennsylvania. He was currently serving his second tour of duty in Iraq, which began in January, and was scheduled to return home next month. His first tour started in May 2003. He was excited to come home and that he and his friends were already planning what they were going to do. He was an outgoing man who enjoyed going out with friends and loved to go out dancing. He wrote, "Whenever it may arise, and when my turn comes," Kalladeen wrote on the Web site, "I will die a glorious death on the battlefield, giving my life to GOD, the Corps, Mom (and family), and the American Flag." His brother, Chad Pillia, is an Army captain stationed in Germany. He escorted Kalladeen's body to Reading for a military funeral. His mother had given Kalladeen and his older brother, Chad, up for foster care when they were just 9 and 10 after she suffered a nervous breakdown. But Kalladeen, at age 17, came looking for her and his brother to reunite the family. He was killed at age 26.
