Bruce Truet Laird, Sr., 80, of Cedar Park, Texas, lost his courageous battle with Alzheimer's, Heart and Multiple Myeloma diseases on August 14, 2013.

He was born in Maud, Oklahoma, to E.T. and Clara Laird, on August 26, 1932 and lived most of his life in the Corpus Christi and South Texas areas. Bruce was a gentle, kind, honest Christian man who was extremely loving and proud of his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed.

Bruce retired from DuPont in 1993 after 32 years of employment and service at the Victoria, Texas site, Cape Fear site in Wilmington, N.C. and the Corpus Christi Plant in Ingleside, Texas. Prior to his career with DuPont, he worked for Mobil Oil and was a Decorated U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his soul mate and wife of 56 years, Maydelle Belcher Laird. Two sons, Bruce (Bo) T. Laird, Jr. (Brenda) of Corpus Christi, Texas; Steven W. Laird (Lorraine) of Cedar Park, Texas. Five grandchildren, Heather Laird Crouse (Ryan), Stephanie Laird, both of Austin, Texas; Bailey Laird Balusek (Daniel) of Corpus Christi, Texas; Chloe Laird and Samuel Laird of Cedar Park, Texas. One great-granddaughter, Jade Electra Crouse of Austin, Texas. One brother, Dewayne Laird (Marie) of Freer, Texas and one niece, Sherron (Sherrie) Niolet of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Juanita "Nita" Laird.

Visitation will be at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, 622 Airline, Corpus Christi, Texas, 78412. Services will follow with Father Sean Maloney officiating. Burial immediately following at Seaside Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Bruce (Bo) T. Laird, Jr., Steven W. Laird, Dewayne Laird, Neal Hahn, Joe Garcia and Daniel Balusek.
