Daniel Boardman was born in Wethersfield, Connecticut, the son of Hannah (Wright) and Daniel Boardman of that town. He graduated Yale University in 1709. He married Hannah Wheeler in 1716. She died in 1719. On Nov 1, 1720 he married Jerusha Sherman in New Milford, daughter of Mercy Wheeler and Deacon David Sherman of Stratford, CT. Daniel and Jerusha had 4 daughters and one son. In 1713 Daniel Boardman was given land and a house in New Milford on the condition that he become New Milford's "minister of the place" for 20 years. In 1716, the First Church of Christ (Congregational) was organized by eight men and five women with Reverend Daniel Boardman as pastor. Reverend Boardman died Aug 25, 1744 in New Milford.

Here lyes buried ye body of ye Rev. Mr. Daniel Boardman. Who departed this Life September 25th Anno Dom. 1744 Aged 58 Years.
