Dutch Navy Vice Admiral. Born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, he served as a Vice Admiral in command of a fleet in the Amsterdam Admiralty Navy. In 1665, he distinguished himself at the Battle of Lowestoft and again at the Four Days and St. James Day battles, of 1666. He commanded the 62 guns ship Wapen van Utrecht in the fleet that brought Willem III to England, fighting in the capture of Cork in 1688 and commanded the 92 guns ship Prinses Maria at the Battle of Beach Head in 1690. He distinguished himself at La Hogue in 1692 and took part in the bombardment of Dunkirk in 1695. He died at the age of 58 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
