Mrs. Walter Chandler To Be Buried Sunday

Services for wife of Former Mayor to be at 2:30

Services for Mrs. Dorothy Wyeth Chandler, wife of Walter Chandler, former Mayor and Representative, will be held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at Grace-St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Dr. Charles Stuart Hale will officiate and burial will be in Forest Hill, with J. T. Hinton & Sons Funeral Home in Charge.

Mrs. Chandler, lovely and gracious First Lady of Memphis from 1940 to 1946, died at 4 Wednesday afternoon at Tucson, Ariz., Hospital. She had gone to Tucson Friday to rest following an operation here. She was 55.

During World War II, her home at 1530 Peabody was open to many service men and women who enjoyed the hospitality of the gracious Southern hostess.

Mr. Chandler, who was flying to his wife's bedside at the time of her death, returned to private law practice here after resigning as Mayor in 1946.
