Tribute Is Paid To Littlepage

Special Judge Adjourns Court When Advised Of Death

Kanawha county Intermediate court was adjourned yesterday by Special Judge Howard B. Lee until Friday because of the death of Judge Collett Littlepage.

When court opened Prosecuting Attorney J. Blackburn Watts said:
"If Your Honor please, we are all grieved this morning at the sad news of the death of our splendid Judge Littlepage and in respect to his love and his memory I want to request Your Honor to adjourn this court until Friday of this week".

Lee responded:
"The whole community, city and county have been shocked this morning by the news of the passing of Judge Littlepage, who was our friend, associate, neighbor and a citizen whom this county and this state could ill afford to lose. But he is gone.
"In respect for his life, his character, his service and his memory this court will be adjourned until Friday morning at 9:30 o'clock".

All cases on yesterday's docket were continued until May 18, those on today'* docket until May 19 and those set for trial tomorrow until May 20.

Littlepage Rites Set For Today

Dr. Thompson to Preach Funeral Sermon For Judge

Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock this morning at the residence In Virginia street for Stephen Collett Littlepage, judge of Kanawha county Intermediate court, who died Tuesday morning at his home of pneumonia.

The Rev. Ernest Thompson. D. D., pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will officiate and burial will be in the Littlepage lot in Spring Hill cemetery. The Simpson funeral directors will have charge.

Active pallbearers will be: Sheriff J. M. Slack, Prosecutor J. Blackburn Watts, Dr. A. L. Amlck, S. L. Flournoy, Harry C. Lee, Stalge Davis, Dave Frierson and Herbert L. Carney.
