Martha Jo Marlar, age 88, of Dallas, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, August 23, 2013.
Mrs. Marlar was born March 11, 1925, in Pilot Grove, Texas.
She was a retired teacher with Hooks Independent School District and a retired minister. She was a member of Church in the City in Rowlett, Texas, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II with the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, A. L. and Fanny Conner, her husband, Doyle Marlar, and one son, David Johnson, three brothers, D. L. Conner, J. B. Conner, and Bill Conner and one sister, Captola Andrew.
She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law: Kathryn Marlar, Deborah and Dan Goodwin, one son and daughter-in-law, James and Sherry Marlar; one stepdaughter, Marilyn Huckabee; one brother and sister-in-law, L. V. and Ruth Conner; four grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be at Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel with James Marlar officiating.
Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside.
