The 52-year-old victim of a Wednesday night hit-and-run accident died at Holy Rosary Hospital late Friday, Police Chief Charles Beauchot said.

Police found Lowell Blaine Harris of 817 S. Sewell lying on Stower Street just west of the Center Street intersection at 11:06 p.m. Wednesday.

Police continued investigation of the accident throyghout the weekend.

"We've got a couple of different things we're looking at that are possibly tied to the incident," Beauchot said.

He also said some light-colored paint was found at the scene.

Beauchot said the person responsible, if apprehended, would face a charge of negligent homicide.

Assistant Police Chief John Uden noted that the death marked the second pedestrian fatality in MIles City in the past couple of months.

Funeral services for Harris will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cut Bank Cemetery at a later date.

Lowell Harris

Lowell Blaine Harris, 52, of Miles City died Friday, Dec. 16, in the Holy Rosary Hospital from injuries received in a hit and run accident.

Mr. Harris was born March 27, 1936, at Cut Bank, a son of Lee and Mila Kruse Harris. He attended and graduated from high school in Cut Bank.

He and Pat Lovnes were married Nov. 24, 1956. Mr. Harris worked in the oil fields until 1957, then was employed by his father-in-law at Lovnes Furniture. In 1970, he began working for Blue Cross of Montana. In 1973, he was transferred to Miles City.

His survivors include his wife of Miles City; one son, Scott Harris of Miles City; two daughters, Heidi Maffey of Boise, Idaho, and Marty Harris of Missoula; and his mother of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Survivors also include two brothers, Duane Harris of Harbor, Ore., and Alva Harris of Shelley, Idaho; and four sisters, Wanda Harris of Idaho Falls, Anita Neil and Alova (sic) Shendan (sic), both of Cut Bank, and Mila Lee Yearsley of Menan, Idaho.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 2 p. m. in the chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Rice will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Cut Bank Cemetery.
