Phyllis Orth Sparks, 83, of Wheelersburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday August 25, 2013 at the Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio after a brief illness.

She was born on October 18, 1929, a daughter of Edward and Mary Lucy Alexander Orth. She was retired from the Scioto County Treasurer's Office and a 1947 graduate of Portsmouth High School. Her circle of friends that remained in contact through the years were collectively know as "The Girls of 47". She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Sparks, her brothers; James Orth, Burl Orth and Tom Orth, and her sisters; Melba Clapham, Mildred McCall and Dora Mae Huffman. She was the baby of the family.

She is survived by one son, Mark Sparks of Wheelersburg and the proud grandmother of Hannah and Hayley Sparks of Russell, Ky., jewels of her life and they owned her heart from the moment they were born. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law; Faye Orth of Portsmouth, Mona Holcom of Haverhill, Katherine Sparks of Gallion and Cathy Orth of Florida. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

She was known for her kindness and generosity and was loved by many and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral service will be held at 11am, Thursday August 29, 2013 at the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with interment at Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8pm and one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday
