OBITUARY-
John Herman Loock, 72, Austin, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000 at his home.
He was born April 10, 1927 in Lindorf, Germany, to Claus and Anna (Meyer) Loock. John came to the United States when he was one year old and resided in Henning, Minn. There he graduated from high school in 1945 and then enlisted in the United States Army. After the army he went to college at Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Neb. and graduated in 1952. He taught school at St. Peter's Lutheran School in Arlington Heights, Ill. from 1952-1955 and at Luther South High School in Chicago, Ill. from 1956-1958. On Sept. 6, 1959 he married Miriam A. Klein in Chicago, Ill. After their marriage they moved to Austin where he worked for Swan Millwork from 1958-1960. He then was in partnership with Hagstrom and Loock from 1960-1970, and then started his own business of Loock Construction from 1970-1997. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Austin and was involved in many church activities. He enjoyed to hunt and fist and work in his garden.
He is survived by his wife Miriam Loock, Austin; daughters Sandra Loock, Holmen, Wis., Pam Loock, Des Moines, Iowa; son and daughter-in-law David and Sheri Loock, Creve Coeur, Mo.; two grandchildren; aunts Tena Stueve and Tina Meyer, both of Henning, Minn.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Joan Loock in 1960, and a brother Henry Loock.
Casket bearers will be Warren Rector, James Tweet, Gerhardt Stueve, David Hagstrom, David Jackson, John Magnuson.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2000 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Austin with the Rev. Robert Stohlmann officiating. Organist will be Robert Goetz
Interment: Grandview Cemetery with military rites provided by Olaf B. Damm VFW Post 1216 and American Legion Post 91.
Visitation: Friends may call at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary from 4-7 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the service at the church.
There will be no reviewal.
