Wesley L. "Bud" Johnson, 85, of Waynesburg, died at 9 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013, in his home.

He was born Thursday, March 8, 1928, in Mt. Morris, a son of the late Spencer Wesley Johnson and Eva Coss Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Waynesburg.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army in Japan as an auto mechanic. He was a former member of Waynesburg Elks Lodge 757 and a member of Waynesburg Moose Lodge 461. He was a past member of Mt. Morris Sportsman Club.

He had worked as a mechanic for VanDruff Tractor Sales in Waynesburg and later worked as a lineman and installer for South Penn Telephone Co., Mid Penn Telephone Co. and Mid Continent Telephone Co. and retired from Alltel Telephone Co. in March 1988 after 30 years. He was also a farmer and raised livestock.

Surviving are his wife, Charlotte Shriver Johnson, whom he married January 17, 1949; daughter Sharon (Mark) Kiger of Waynesburg; two sons, Steve (Holly) Johnson and Jay Johnson, both of Waynesburg; daughter-in-law Deborah Johnson of Waynesburg; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leanna Fox of Waynesburg and Virginia Preece of Livonia, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a son, Charles Wesley Johnson; sister Lula Johnson, who died in infancy; and two brothers, Olan L. and Orris L. Johnson.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 8, with Pastor James Lewis and the Rev. Kathy Higgins officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Whiteley Township. Graveside military rites will be accorded by James Farrell American Legion Post 330 of Waynesburg and representatives of the U.S. Army. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to Humane Society of Greene County, 183 Jefferson Road, Waynesburg, PA 15370, or to a charity of one's choice.
