OLDEST U. C. PROFESSOR DIES
Cornelius Beach Bradley Succumbs at His Berkeley Home at Age of 93 Years
BERKELEY, Feb. 18. - Cornelius Beach Bradley, 93, oldest professor emeritis of the University of California died at his home, 2638 Durant Avenue, early today from the infirmities of old age.
Professor Bradley, during his connection with the university from 1882 to 1911 when he retired with honors, was a professor of rhetoric.
He was born in Bangkok, Siam, November 18, 1843, where his father, Rev. Dan Beach Bradley, was a Congregational missionary. Educated at Oberlin College, where he matriculated in 1868, Professor Bradley tutored in Vermont for two years. He married on of his students, Miss Mary S. Cummings.
They returned to Siam, where he was in the missionary field until an illness contracted there forced his return to this country. Here he recovered completely. In 1875, he went to Oakland, where he was vice-principal of the Oakland High School until his affiliation with the university.
A son, Harold Bradley, is a professor at the University of Wisconsin, and a daughter,, Mrs. Herbert Warbasse, is assistant city attorney of Brooklyn, N.Y.
