Funeral Friday Howard C. Cavan, 65. 708 South Anderson street, died at 3:15 p. m. Tuesday at the McGuire nursing following an illness of two weeks. He had suffered two strokes recently. Born August 6, 1835. in Minook. Ill. he was the son of William H. and Mary Clifton Cavan. Mr. Cavan came to Elwood 55 years ago and in 1907 he married Ethel Peck, of near Noblesville. Mrs. Cavan died several years ago. He was a telegraph operator at the Nickel Plate railroad depot In Elwood for 10 years and for the past _0 years he was bookkeeper at the Dawson Buick-Pontiac company here. Survivors include one daughter. Miss Mary Lee Cavan, Elwood and two brothers, Meredith Cavan, of San Diego, Calif., and Charles Cavan, of Tuscon, Ariz. Final rites will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Grace Methodist church with the Rev. Harold Thrasher, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Richard H. Haynes, pastor of the Presbyterian church in Stanley, N. Y. Cremation will be in Muncie. The body will lie in state at the York Memorial home until 1:30 p. m. Friday when it will be removed to the church.
